When Tristan Prettyman Covers Songs Of The Cure, Britney Spears, And Oasis...

...Magic happens. All of that with just an acoustic guitar.

Tristan Prettyman - Just Like Heaven (The Cure Cover)
Remember when Katie Melua dared to do a cover of this song, and everybody was like 'This is amazing, I've never thought of it that way before'? Well, that one is DULL compared to this. It's the best cover version of the song around, and this may be oversaying, but at some levels, I do enjoy this version more than the original. Well, it's simply just Tristan's subtle vocals and her guitar, but she turned the song into a breezy, uplifting, feel-good tune and the way she altered the melodies are so lovely. Best bit: When she sang the 'You're just like a dreeeeeeeeeam' part. Damn dreamy. (highly recommended)

Tristan Prettyman - Toxic (Britney Spears Cover)
Live @ Canes Bar & Grill, 3/23/2004
Suft troubadour covered pop-queen-turns-fat-soccer-mom. Somehow this shouldn't work, but it does, she gave the song this humid, sensual, sexy feel without sounding too provocative. I know a lot of people aren't going to like this, but hey, I do.

Tristan Prettyman - Live Forever (Oasis Cover)
Live @ Bowery Ballroom, 2/15/2006
Not the best choice of cover materials, but it's alright. Some dudes kept hollering in the audience while she was chatting. Suckers. Her talking voice is so adorable.

I think so far she has done only 3 covers. I'd love her to do more. Like, a studio version of 'Just Like Heaven'.
